Juan Martin del Potro will not turn out for Argentina in next year's Davis Cup, captain Martin Jaite has announced.
Del Potro is Argentina's top-ranked player and helped his country to the semi-finals of the 2012 edition of the tournament. However, it appears that for now at least the world number seven will be taking a break from the competition.
"We sent emails to all the players likely to be selected and asked them to respond before December 10. Del Potro didn't answer. On December 20, he then sent me an SMS to tell me that he was not available," Jaite told La Nacion.
"The relationship with Del Potro isn't broken, the doors of the team are always open to him."
