Inter Milan are officially under new ownership as Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir completes his takeover of the Serie A club, former majority shareholder Massimo Moratti has announced.
Talks between Moratti and Thohir, who owns or part-owns both the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers as well as DC United in the MLS, have been ongoing for months and the oil tycoon has now confirmed that an agreement has been reached.
Thohir has purchased a 70 % stake in the Nerazzuri and has received the blessing of Moratti, who feels he is leaving his beloved club in safe hands.
"The documents have been signed," Moratti told reporters.
"I find it hard to find the right words to describe how I feel. I just pretend that everything is still normal. Things went fast all of a sudden, but Inter are in good hands.
"Things will possibly change over time, but the important thing is that respect is the base of everything."
The 68-year-old also suggested he may in fact stay on as president, although a final decision regarding the position has yet to be made.
He added: "Will I continue as president? We'll see what happens..."
