A vacant R2-million property owned by Zindzi Mandela has been left in a state of disrepair, invaded by squatters and overrun by rats.
According to The Star newspaper, the property in Houghton is owned by the Zindzi Mandela Family Trust, but neighbours said that nobody lives there.
Neighbours told the newspaper of rubbish outside the property, people urinating on the street and rats running wild.
The City of Johannesburg’s health inspectors have Mandela 21 days to clean up the property after an inspection in December, but it appears nothing has been done, despite the deadline having come and gone.
Attempts by the newspaper to get comment from Mandela were unsuccessful.
